71 mm frame for drives with clean installation and reliable operation
Electric motor 1AL-71M1-4 from the 1AL OPTIMAL series is a three-phase asynchronous electric motor with an output of 0.25 kW, rated voltage of 230/400 V and connection Delta/Y. At a frequency of 50 Hz it reaches rated speed of 1340 rpm and operates in a 4-pole design. The 71 mm frame, that is, the shaft shaft height of 71 mm, is suitable for machines where compact drive installation is required, while already offering a power level usable across a wider range of industrial tasks. This model integrates well into technologies where precise mounting, a regular duty cycle and stable mechanical transmission are required.
In practice, the 1AL-71M1-4 is used in dosing equipment, belt conveyors, labelling modules, packaging lines, sorting mechanisms, feed units, smaller mixing assemblies, fans, pumping modules, closing systems, laboratory equipment and various automation workstations. In such assemblies, it is important that the motor is not unnecessarily large in size, runs smoothly and can be reliably deployed in machines with repeated starting as well as in equipment with continuous operation.
Electrical data and operation under working load
The motor draws a rated current of 1.30 A at 230 V and 0.75 A at 400 V. The ratio of starting torque 2.2, the ratio of breakdown torque 2.1 and the ratio of starting current 5.2 give the engineer a clear picture of the motor’s behaviour at start-up and under load. With smaller machines, start-up is often decisive, especially when several drives are started regularly or when smooth acceleration without unnecessary shocks is required.
The 1AL-71M1-4 model is intended for a load type with a parabolic or linear load characteristic. This is practical for machines where the load changes according to the movement of the mechanism or the material being processed. Also important is the rotor moment of inertia of 0.0008 kg·m², which supports good response in equipment with repeated starting, shorter cycles or regular step-by-step feed. In such operations, it matters when the drive responds predictably and the line mechanics work without unnecessary disturbance.
Conditions the motor can handle in everyday operation
An industrial electric motor must operate reliably even outside ideal conditions. The 1AL-71M1-4 has an IP55 rating, so it is suitable for environments where dust, fine dirt or splashing water are present. This is important in packaging technologies, material handling and also in service and production units where the motor operates for long periods as part of a machine. Stable thermal operating conditions are ensured by IC411 cooling. The motor uses insulation class F and temperature rise B, which creates a suitable basis for regular industrial operation.
It can operate at an ambient temperature of up to +65 °C and is intended for altitudes up to 1000 m. The service factor of 1.0 and the duty types S1, S2, S3, S4-S9 allow use in continuous operation as well as in intermittent duty cycles. Noise level of 55 dB(A) is favourable for technologies where smooth running and lower acoustic load in the workplace are monitored. Vibration at the level of 2.8 mm/s in class A helps maintain stable mechanical operation of the entire assembly. The motor can rotate in either direction, which expands usability in reversing mechanisms and bidirectional feeds.
Bearing arrangement, balancing and control options
On both the DE and NDE sides, 6202-2Z bearings are fitted. Lubrication is provided by No. 2 lithium-based grease in the appropriate temperature class. Balancing with a half key is important when fitting pulleys, couplings and other power transmission elements, where smooth and even running matters. The motor is suitable for DOL starting and also for control by a frequency inverter or soft starter. This makes it possible to choose simple direct starting or more precise adjustment of acceleration and running according to the needs of a specific machine.
