To ensure greater protection against excessive temperatures, 1AL electric motors can be equipped with integrated thermal sensors. This option is recommended in operations with insufficient ventilation, in cases of higher overload or when using a frequency converter. It is possible to provide:

This device uses an encapsulated bimetallic strip that opens the switching contacts in case of overheating. When the temperature drops, the contacts close. Strips are usually connected in series with an auxiliary terminal block.

This option is recommended mainly for frame sizes 160 to 355. This device uses a semiconductor that shows resistance differences only before overheating. The advantage of these sensors is that they can reliably detect even the smallest temperature differences and at the same time do not show signs of wear. However, compared to bimetallic probes, they cannot switch the circuit relay, so the installation of a special shutdown unit is required. Thermistors are connected to the auxiliary terminal block like bimetallic probes.
