Electric motor 1AL-160L-4 for reliable integration into high-power production equipment
In technologies with a long duty cycle, it is important that the motor can be correctly integrated into the supply, that after start-up it moves into a stable operating mode, and that it works reliably even under regular load. Electric motor 1AL-160L-4 from the 1AL OPTIMAL series operates at 15 kW, rated voltage 400/690 V and connection Delta/Y. At a frequency of 50 Hz it reaches rated speed of 1460 rpm and is a 4-pole design. This combination of parameters is suitable for technologies where the drive runs regularly, transmits a continuous load and must remain operationally reliable even over long working periods.
From the point of view of electrical integration, the rated current of 28.6 A at 400 V and 16.58 A at 690 V is important. When designing the supply, protection and control, these are values that help correctly assign the motor to a power node without unnecessary compromises. An efficiency of 89 % and power factor of 0.85 support smooth operation where the motor is expected to run regularly throughout the shift or in multi-shift operation. In equipment that must run steadily and without unwanted fluctuations, these are practically important characteristics.
When assured starting and a clean transition into load are decisive
In many technologies, the critical moment is precisely the start-up. The drive must move smoothly from standstill into operating mode and must not introduce unnecessary instability into the machine. Model 1AL-160L-4 has a starting torque ratio of 2.3, a breakdown torque ratio of 2.3 and a starting current ratio of 7.0. This creates a solid basis for applications where the equipment starts repeatedly, starts under load, or quickly reaches a stable working speed after start-up.
The motor is suitable for a load type with a parabolic or linear load characteristic, so it integrates well into technologies where resistance changes according to flow, pressure, movement of the mechanism or the phase of the production process. The rotor moment of inertia of 0.0918 kg·m² is also practically important. In equipment with longer engagement periods, regular duty cycles or repeated starts, it helps maintain a calmer drive response and a more stable operating pattern of the whole assembly.
Suitable for technologies where the drive works at full capacity
This model is naturally used in conveyor lines, pumping stations, fan units, extraction systems, mixing equipment, dosing technologies, sorting workplaces, handling modules, recycling lines, press auxiliary units and various production assemblies where material or medium is processed at a steady rhythm. In such applications, it is significant that after run-up the motor does not work erratically, but maintains a continuous operating mode and reliably transfers power into the the machine’s mechanical system.
At an output of 15 kW, not only the working engagement itself is often considered, but also long-term operational reliability. Rated speed of 1460 rpm is suitable for technologies where a smooth power transfer character is expected, whether it is liquid flow, air movement, material transport or mixing. It is precisely the balanced operation at steady load that is often one of the decisive parameters when selecting an electric motor for the main production unit.
Mechanical mounting and construction for long-term operation
The motor operates in a frame size with a shaft height of 160 mm. This corresponds to equipment where the drive already forms a firmly integrated part of the technological unit and the mechanical mounting must remain stable even under regular load. On both the DE and NDE sides, bearings 6309-2ZC3 are fitted. Lubrication is provided by No. 2 lithium-based grease in the relevant temperature class. Balancing with half key supports even running when pulleys, couplings and other power transmission elements are fitted.
Noise level of 75 dB(A) and vibration of 2.8 mm/s in Class A help maintain a balanced mechanical performance in assemblies where several drives operate simultaneously. The motor can rotate in either direction, which expands the range of use in reversing mechanisms, bidirectional traverses and units where the working direction changes according to the process logic of the equipment.
Operating conditions and control in industrial practice
In normal production, the motor is exposed to dust, higher temperature, regular cleaning and a long duty cycle. Protection rating IP55 helps protect the internal parts against dust and splashing water, which is important in technical rooms, production halls and equipment with intensive material handling. Thermal stability is ensured by IC411 cooling. The motor uses Insulation Class F and B temperature rise, and is intended for ambient temperatures up to +65 °C and an altitude of up to 1000 m.
Model 1AL-160L-4 is suitable for DOL starting, for control by frequency inverter and for a soft starter. Service factor 1.0 and operating modes S1, S2, S3, S4-S9 allow use in continuous operation as well as in interrupted sequences. For electrical connection, 2-M40X1.5 cable glands are prepared. Packaging weight of 100 kg supports handling planning during installation, transport and service replacement. The 1AL OPTIMAL series is long favoured for the very good ratio of quality to price and broad mounting options including IM B3, IM B35, IM B5, IM B14, IM B34 designs. Where reliable 15 kW output and stable operation in regular industrial service are required, this electric motor represents a professional solution.
