Electric motor 1AL-132S-4 for technologies that operate in a long and stable rhythm
Not every drive in operation performs only an auxiliary role. In pumping, ventilation, mixing or the smooth transfer of material, the motor is often directly responsible for whether the line maintains its pace without fluctuations. Electric motor 1AL-132S-4 from the 1AL OPTIMAL series is designed precisely for this type of use. It has an output of 5.5 kW, a rated voltage of 400/690 V, a delta/star connection and, at a frequency of 50 Hz, reaches 1440 rpm. It is a 4-pole three-phase asynchronous electric motor with a shaft height of 132 mm, ready for regular industrial operation with a solid mechanical base.
In practice, this model is naturally used in conveyor lines, with pumps, in fan units, in extraction systems, in mixing units, dosing equipment, packaging lines, handling technologies, sorting workplaces and recycling units. What matters is not only that the motor starts the technology. The essential point is that it can keep it in a stable operating mode even when production runs for hours, when the load changes according to the phase of the process or when individual parts of the line are engaged in a repeated cycle.
A power level with real operational significance in the machine
With an output of 5.5 kW, the motor no longer represents only the drive of a smaller auxiliary branch in the equipment, but very often carries the main working load of a specific unit. The rated current is 11.12 A at 400 V and 6.45 A at 690 V, which is important when designing the power supply, protection and integration into the switchgear. An efficiency of 85.7 % and a power factor of 0.83 create a good basis for long-term use in technologies where regular operation without unnecessary downtime is expected from the drive. The rated speed of 1440 rpm also supports a smooth power transmission characteristic both with media and with mechanical movement.
In real operation, how the motor behaves during start-up is also very important. A starting torque ratio of 2.3, a breakdown torque ratio of 2.3 and a starting current ratio of 7 give this model predictable behaviour during start-up and during the transition to load. In pumping technology, fans or conveyors, this means a more reliable start without unwanted disturbance in the whole assembly. The load type with a parabolic or linear load characteristic also extends its use in technologies where resistance during the working cycle changes according to flow rate, pressure or material movement.
When the technology starts repeatedly, a smooth start-up process is decisive
The 1AL-132S-4 model is suitable for DOL starting, for control by a frequency converter and for a soft starter. This gives both the designer and the operator more scope when choosing the starting method. In some cases direct starting is sufficient, while elsewhere a gentler start-up or more precise adjustment of operation according to the machine character is more important. In lines with dosing, continuous transport or controlled flow, this is a very practical feature because the drive can be better adapted to the technological pace.
The rotor moment of inertia of 0.0214 kg·m² also plays an important role here. In equipment where the working cycle is repeated, where the line starts in batches or where the mechanical system transition between several phases of the process, this value helps maintain a clearer drive response. The motor can rotate in either direction, which expands the possibilities for use in reversing mechanisms, bidirectional feeds and technological units with a changing direction of movement.
The operating environment requires a durable and stable drive
In production, the motor comes into contact with dust, heat, regular cleaning and long working periods. This is why the IP55 degree of protection is important, helping to protect the internal parts against dust and splashing water. In pumping stations, during material handling, in packaging plants and in air-handling units, this is a feature that has a direct impact on operational reliability. IC411 cooling supports a stable thermal mode under longer load, which is essential in this power class.
The motor uses insulation class F and temperature rise B. It is intended for an ambient temperature of up to +65 °C and an altitude of up to 1000 m. Operating modes S1, S2, S3, S4-S9, together with a service factor of 1.0, allow use in continuous operation as well as in intermittent processes. This is important where one part of the technology operates continuously and another is engaged according to the production cycle or batch.
A mechanical design that supports even running
6308-2Z bearings are fitted on both the DE and NDE sides. Lubrication is provided by No. 2 lithium-based grease in the relevant temperature class. Balancing with a half key is important when fitting pulleys, couplings and other power transmission elements where smooth running and a secure mechanical connection are monitored. A noise level of 71 dB(A) and a vibration velocity of 2.8 mm/s in class A support refined mechanical performance, which is important in assemblies with multiple drives as well as during longer operation.
2-M32X1.5 cable glands are prepared for electrical connection. A packaged weight of 43 kg and packaging dimensions of 500 × 290 × 340 mm make it easier to plan handling, storage and service replacement. The 1AL OPTIMAL series is known in industry for its very good value for money, rapid commissioning and broad compatibility. During installation, versions IM B3, IM B35, IM B5, IM B14, IM B34 can be used. The electric motor 1AL-132S-4 therefore represents a professional solution for operations that need 5.5 kW of power, solid reliable operation and a reliable drive for a long operating mode.
