Electric drive for technologies that require steady performance and smooth operation
Electric motor 1AL-160M2-8 is an 8-pole three-phase asynchronous motor with an output of 5.5 kW, rated speed of 720 rpm and power supply of 400/690 V at 50 Hz. This model is designed for applications where it is important for the output to be transmitted evenly, without sudden changes and with good reliability during long operating intervals. Such an operating profile is suitable for mixing equipment, screw conveyors, belt conveyor sections, circulating pumps, fan units, extraction assemblies, drying units, filling lines, slow-turning rotary tables and process nodes for material processing. In these tasks, it is crucial for the motor to keep pace with the process, not to operate at high speed.
The electrical design with Delta/Y connection provides a clear basis for integration into an industrial network. Rated current of 12.9 A at 400 V and 7.48 A at 690 V helps with the design of protection, the selection of switching elements and the preparation of the switchboard. This is practically important when the drive is being added to a new machine or during the modernisation of an existing technology and the electrical part needs to be under control from the outset. In the 1AL OPTIMAL series, this is a professional VYBO Electric solution in an aluminium frame, ready for wide industrial use.
Starting, load and duty cycle
For this model, it is important how it behaves at start-up and how it maintains performance during operation. The starting torque ratio of 2.0 relative to rated torque means a reliable basis for acceleration. Likewise, 2.0 for breakdown torque helps the motor maintain operation even with ordinary changes in resistance in the process. The starting current ratio of 6.5 is essential when designing protection and selecting the correct starting method. In practice, this means that the motor can be used in equipment that starts repeatedly during a shift, as well as in technologies with long continuous operation, where stable behaviour without unnecessary fluctuations is expected.
The model is suitable for DOL, for control by a frequency converter and for use with a soft starter. This gives freedom in the design of the machine itself. For simpler equipment, direct starting may be practical. For more robust mechanics or technology sensitive to starting shock, a gentler start or the option to adjust the operating pace is an advantage. Such a solution is useful for pumping circuits, fans with regular load, mixers where the resistance of the medium changes depending on the phase of the process, and conveyor routes where it is necessary to maintain smooth material movement.
The motor is designed for a parabolic or linear load curve, so it is well suited to operations where resistance increases smoothly or remains within a predictable range during work. The output of 5.5 kW combined with the 8-pole design gives this model operational significance especially where endurance, regularity and smooth transmission of power are required.
Protection in daily use
The industrial drive must cope with environments where dust, moisture and industrial contaminants are commonly present. IP55 protection helps protect the important parts of the motor in such conditions and IC411 cooling supports reliable heat dissipation under standard load. F insulation class together with B temperature rise creates a suitable thermal basis for regular operation throughout the shift. The service factor of 1.0 corresponds to standard industrial use and the operating modes S1, S2, S3 and S4-S9 allow the motor to be used in continuous operation as well as in cyclic processes.
The application is intended for an ambient temperature of up to +65 °C and an altitude of up to 1000 m. The noise level of 68 dB(A) corresponds to the power class and, when installed correctly, supports refined operational behaviour in the workshop and in the process unit. In practice, this means that the motor is ready for long-term service in mixing, pumping, ventilation, dosing and material transport, where working conditions change according to the rhythm of production, not according to an ideal laboratory environment.
Mechanics, bearings and mounting details
The 160 mm frame size provides a solid base for machines and equipment that already require a more robust mechanical solution. 6309-2RZC3 bearings on the DE and NDE sides support stable rotor mounting and help maintain reliability in long-term use. A vibration velocity of 2.8 mm/s in class A contribute to smooth operation after coupling to a coupling, pulley or another transmission element. The half-key balancing corresponds to standard industrial installation and the motor can rotate in either direction, which makes integration into different mechanical assemblies easier.
The rotor inertia of 0.0931 kg·m² supports a smoother response during start-up and when changing operating state. The design includes cable glands 2-M40X1.5. The packed weight of 82.5 kg corresponds to the power category and is an important parameter for handling, transport and installation preparation. The bearing arrangement uses No. 2 lithium-based grease. The electric motor 1AL-160M2-8 therefore represents a reliable drive for technologies in which steady power delivery, reliable starting and smooth long-term operation are required.
